Two offers. One clearer decision.
Snapshots of your calculations, in the same display currency.
Compare the scope and risk too—not just the hourly number. Comparisons stay in this session only.
Price the whole project. Not just the words.
Start with the actual scope
Choose a service, enter a word count and check an existing offer—or build a quote from your own hourly target.
Account for the invisible hours
Add research, drafts, edits, revisions and project admin. The time behind the document matters as much as its length.
Compare, adjust, then decide
Look at the after-fee hourly amount, test an extra revision, and compare two scenarios. Use the result as a planning aid, not a promise.
The maths behind your quote.
An illustrative example: a USD 80 project taking 4 hours with a 20% fee leaves USD 64 after that fee, or USD 16 per working hour. One extra hour of revisions lowers it to USD 12.80 per hour.
To retain USD 25 per working hour over the original 4 hours with that fee, the required gross quote is USD 125. These are sample inputs—not typical market rates or expected earnings.
A fee percentage is applied once to the gross quote. The fixed fee is then deducted once. Different payment-provider fee structures may need a different model.
Hours = research + drafting + editing
+ revisions + project admin
After-fee amount = quote × (1 − fee/100)
− fixed deduction
Effective hourly = after-fee amount ÷ hours
Required quote = (hourly target × hours
+ fixed deduction)
÷ (1 − fee/100)Required quotes round up to the selected currency's smallest display unit. Intermediate calculations keep their precision; actual platform rounding may differ.
Before you send that quote.
Does this tell me the standard writing rate?
No. It calculates from your inputs; it does not look up market benchmarks or recommend a rate based on experience or location. Your client, expertise, project scope and business costs still matter.
Can I calculate a per-word writing fee?
Yes. In Check an offer, choose Per word and enter the rate and word count. The tool calculates the project total and its effective hourly amount after your entered fees.
Are tax, VAT and business expenses included?
No. Results exclude tax, VAT, currency conversion and business costs not entered as fees. The hourly target is after the entered deductions but before those other costs. This is not financial or tax advice.
Does switching currency convert the amounts?
No. The selector changes currency labels and display precision only. All input amounts must already be expressed in the selected currency. There is no exchange-rate feed.
What happens to the numbers I enter?
The calculator performs its maths in your browser, without its own analytics or network calls. Nothing is saved automatically. Save inputs stores the current form on this browser only; Delete saved inputs removes that copy. Your host site's analytics or ads are separate.
How should I account for revisions?
Include expected revision time in your original estimate. Then use the extra-time test to see the effect of additional unpaid work. Revision hours are not the same as agreed revision rounds; define scope and change-request terms separately.
Are platform fees built in?
No platform fee is automatically assumed. Enter the percentage shown for your own contract or transaction and any applicable fixed deduction. Check provider rules: some fees have different charging bases.
Can I save or compare my calculations?
You can save the current inputs on your device and load them later. Storage availability depends on your browser settings. Compare holds up to two valid calculations in the current session and requires the same currency label. Print or copy a summary if you need a portable record.
